The EU will not be allowed to collect personal data of passengers

Airlines should no longer share passenger data with European Union countries, at least for flights within member states.

This is the decision taken by the Supreme Court of the European Union, writes Schengen Visa Info.

The EU Court of Justice has ruled that airlines' requests to provide passenger data to national authorities do not comply with privacy rights.

Earlier, the Swiss Federal Council opened the consultation process for the Flight Passenger Data Act, as the use of their data is an important tool in the fight against terrorism and other crimes in more than 60 countries around the world.

Passenger Name Record (PNR) data is used to identify terrorists or persons involved in illegal affairs.

This enables police officers to obtain detailed information about the movement of passengers and also to identify models for a police investigation./Euronews
