The weather across the European continent is expected to worsen in the coming days, as countries such as Moldova and Ukraine have experienced heavy snowfall, resulting in casualties. While Bulgaria has declared a state of emergency, as the storms have left more than 1,000 villages without electricity.

On the other hand, last week the Irish Meteorological Service (Met Éireann) issued a low temperature and ice warning, which applies to the whole country of Ireland, reports  SchengenVisaInfo.com.

According to a weather analysis website, this year's winter will play out differently each month, but continental Europe and the eastern United States should expect some of the coldest temperatures.

December has started with snowfall, which will continue to snow in many parts of the continent, especially in Norway, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, France, some parts of Italy and even less parts of Spain.

In the next ten days, snow is also expected in the United States, with the western region along the Rockies, parts of the Midwest, the Northeast with lake-effect snow, and even some areas of the central Plains affected by such weather.

On the other hand, Bloomberg reports that early December will not set the tone for the rest of the month as above average temperatures are expected to be recorded in the UK, France and Germany, while Scandinavian countries and northern Scotland will experience extreme cold.

However, higher temperatures will be seen in Spain, Turkey and the Balkans, which will be warmer than usual. /CNA
