Israel has killed the commander of Hamas' Shati Battalion, named Haitham Khuwajari.
The news was confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which said the Hamas battalion commander was killed in an air strike on Sunday.
In a press conference, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said the commander was responsible for carrying out raids on Israeli territory in the October 7 attack.
"An IDF warplane struck and killed Haitham Khuwajari, commander of Hamas' Shati Battalion. Under his command, Hamas terrorists raided Israeli territory on October 7 during the occupation and massacre in southern Israel," it said in a statement. joint IDF and Israel Security Agency.
According to them, Khuwajarai "was in command of Hamas forces fighting against Israeli soldiers in the Shat area."
The IDF took control of the Al-Shati refugee camp located in the northern Gaza Strip in mid-November.
