Preçi: The crisis in Albania started before the war in Ukraine started

Former Minister of Economy, Zef Preçi, stated that the current economic crisis is "normal development in the global context, taking into account the Russian aggression in Ukraine", but added that in our country this crisis is also reflecting "the internal problems that our economy has , which is related to structural problems and the high specific weight of the informal sector".

“Këto janë zhvillime normale në kontekst global, duke marrë parasysh agresionin rus në Ukrainë. Në rastin e Shqipërisë, këto zhvillime reflektojnë problematikën e brendshme që ka ekonomia jonë, që lidhet me problemet strukturore, peshën specifike të lartë të sektorit informal. Si në krizën e Depresionit të Madh, ashtu edhe në krizat e mëvonshme, për shkak të shkallës së ulët të lidhjeve që kemi me ekonomitë perëndimore, nuk mendoj se duhen interpretuar zhvillimet e ekonomisë botërore si mbartje në ekonominë tonë. Për shembull, kriza në vendin tonë ka nisur përpara se të niste lufta. Ka mungesë vizioni nga qeveria, merret me propagandë dhe jo me thelbin e problemit. Krizë do të thotë humbje e vendeve të punës dhe rritje e varfërisë”, deklaroi Preçi për A2.

The government should review its vision regarding business relations and reforms such as the fiscal amnesty, which have essentially done the damage as far as fiscal performance is concerned. The layers in need should be really supported with priority, starting with the indexation of wages. Albania, faced with a global food crisis, has no reason not to react.
