Goods worth over 430 euros in suitcases, obligation to declare at customs

If a traveler entering Albania carries goods worth more than 430 euros in their luggage, they must be declared. The declaration must also include the destination of the goods, whether for commercial purposes or not.

Travelers arriving in Albania from another country are exempt from import duties on goods in their personal luggage. They do not pay customs duties on these goods, unless they are intended for commercial use.

The value of exempt goods, excluding tobacco and alcohol products, for land travelers is 300 euros. Meanwhile, for air or sea travelers, it is 430 euros for each individual.

When entering Albanian territory, the traveler must declare the goods if they are of a value higher than the relevant limit mentioned above and if they are for commercial purposes.

Customs authorities have the right to require anyone entering our country to show all the goods they are transporting.

For non-commercial goods in passengers' luggage that exceed the limit exempt from import customs duties, customs declaration is carried out through the "Simplified Declaration" procedure.
