The Bank of Albania celebrates the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the institution, by printing a series of three commemorative coins with the theme "100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence".

This series comes in honor and remembrance of all the inspiration and intellectual, Renaissance, state-forming effort that sealed the history of Albanians.

The series consists of 50 lekë, 100 lekë and 200 lekë coins.

50 Lekë coin in base metal

In the main image, in the center of the coin, the double-headed eagle of the flag that was raised in Vlora is placed, placed in direct relationship with a contemporary element. The years 1912-2012 are written in the form of digital numbers, to bring the importance of this great event to the present.

On the upper arc is written “100 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE” and on the lower arc, the nominal value of the coin 50 Lekë. On both sides of the arc of the coin is placed an eagle. On the reverse side of the coin, there is a symbolic sculpture with two hands firmly joined together, which was used to convey the message of independence and separation from years of dependence on other countries. On the side of the work is the title of the sculpture “Besëlidhja”, and the name of the sculptor of this work, Asim Lokaj, is also written.

In the upper arc is written "ALBANIA - ALBANIA" while in the lower arc is the jubilee year of this important historical event for all Albanians, the year 2012. On both sides, in the arc of the coin, the double-headed eagle is placed.

In the main view, in the center of the coin is the double-headed eagle of the flag that was raised in Vlora. Beneath it is written in relief the nominal value 100 Lekë. It is written in the upper arc “28 November 1912” and in the lower arc “100 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE”, placed vertically. In an imaginary circle are 100 small stars that close the realization of the drawing. In the reverse view, the coin is divided into two circles. In its central part is the Act of Independence. In the second circle is written in the upper arc “SHQIPËRI - ALBANIA 2012” and in the lower arc “AKTI I SHPALLJES SË PAVARËSISË”. 200 Lekë gold coin

On the main view, in the center of the coin is the double-headed eagle of the flag that was raised in Vlora, on November 28, 1912. Below it is written the nominal value 200 Lekë. Both together give the idea as if they are leaning on the railings of the balcony of the building where the Government of Ismail Qemali stood and today serves as the National Museum of Independence. Above the eagle's head are written the words "100 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE" and above them, there is a motif, a stylization of the tassels (fringes) that surrounded the flag as a frame. On the reverse view, in the center of the coin is the portrait of Ismail Qemali, below the portrait his name. On both shoulders of the portrait are the years 1912 and 2012, the year of the raising of the flag in Vlora and the one that marks the 100th anniversary of independence. Like a halo, the words "SHQIP?ERI - ALBANIA" are written in capital letters above the head, and above them is a repeated, stylized motif of tassels (fringes), which surrounded the flag like a frame. /CNA
