Journalist Telnis Skuqi has denounced another case where crime has become part of electoral campaigns.

Skuqi has published a photo from the meeting with the candidate for SP MP on the open list in Gjirokastra, Pirro Dhima.

Also appearing at this meeting is citizen Vangjel Bashari, a person accused and arrested for drug trafficking.

A drug trafficker is not just a lawbreaker. He is a man who has destroyed lives. Who has put young people on a path of no return. Who has empowered cultivators and built criminal networks on the backs of society. 

And today, he is no longer in the shadows. He is not hiding. He is not apologizing. On the contrary, he is sitting at the political table. With his head held high. As part of the structures of the Socialist Party. 

Not only that. The candidate of this party in Gjirokastra has made it even clearer. He has not distanced himself. He has not refused. He has not remained silent. On the contrary, he has made public a meeting where the trafficker is one of the attendees. 

A candidate who does not understand this reality is either blind or part of the problem. A candidate who does not distance himself from crime is either politically uneducated or a tool in the hands of those who control power behind the scenes. 

And if today he sees nothing wrong with this picture, what will he see as wrong when he is in power? 

The trafficker is there. He has his place in politics, and the candidate, by embracing this reality, is showing us all that there are no longer any boundaries between crime and power./ CNA
