The fire destroyed the apartments/ Pogradec Municipality takes over the housing

The final balance of the massive fire that occurred in neighborhood No. 4 of Pogradec resulted in the burning of two entrances with 4 rooms of 80-year-old Avni Biba and 3 rooms of Elton Bacci.

According to information from the fire department, the apartment in the middle where two families lived was also burned. The fire broke out yesterday evening, where fortunately there were no injuries, but many material damages, leaving the families of this block of flats in the open.

Today, the mayor of Pogradec, Ilir Xhakolli, went to the families, inspecting together with the work group the large damages, while he stated that they will cover the expenses and rent until the reconstruction of the houses destroyed by the fire.

"A large-scale fire involving almost 4 families, but 2 of them are the most damaged. The fire was extinguished by 11:20 p.m., one of these families, which is the most problematic, we have found a house near here and we will support it also with food and clothes as they have money in their pockets. the damaged ones. Undoubtedly, the municipality will step in strongly to support these two apartments that are to be rebuilt and very soon they will be in their apartment."

The cause of the fire is suspected to be the burning fireplace of the 80-year-old man who was asleep at the time of the fire. It was a neighbor of his who intervened to get him out of the apartment before the situation worsened.

For the residents of this block of flats, the situation remains alarming considering the total destruction of the flats and the low temperatures this winter. /CNA
