Murder of Judge Kalaja/ Appeal leaves Gjon Shkambi, uncle of suspected

The Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction rejected the request for mitigation of the security measure for Gjon Shkambi, leaving the measure of "prison arrest" in force.

Shkambi is the uncle of Elvis Shkambi, arrested after the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja at the Court of Appeals in Tirana.

According to the Appeals Court's decision, Shkambi, the uncle of the suspected perpetrator of the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja, will not be released after the court, after reviewing the justifications and evidence in the file, considered the request as "unfounded in law and evidence."

Shkambi remains in prison as a suspect for "incitement to crime" and for possible knowledge of his nephew's actions, while investigations continue.

The sensational murder of judge Astrit Kalaja occurred at around 3:35 p.m. on October 6. /CNA
