Candidacies for the People's Advocate/ Human rights associations propose

Human rights associations have proposed the name of Besim Ndregjoni for People's Advocate.

In a letter sent to the Parliament, the three associations express concern about the reluctance to promote anti-communist figures.

The associations, in their letter, state that Ndregjoni's candidacy comes for his 35-year contribution to 40% of Albanians.

The Human Rights and Freedoms Group, the Trauma and Torture Center, the Nationwide Union for the Integration of Political Prisoners and Persecuted of Albania, the National Association of Former Kulaks of Albania, which in 2022 have presented to the Albanian Parliament to lead the People's Advocate, which focuses on "Human Rights and Freedoms", an anti-communist personality, a missionary of documentation and condemnation of the crimes of communism, a transmitter of peace and not hatred, a relentless voice in the defense of human rights and freedoms for the anti-communist stratum that represents 40% of the Albanian people, Mr. Besim NDREJONI! We as Civil Society, Kulaks, Prisoners and Politically Persecuted are very concerned that after three decades, politics is still hesitant to promote anti-communist candidates who democratize institutions and do not politicize them!

We bring to your attention the political parties represented in the Assembly, the Proclamation of the President of the United States Donald Trump who a month ago, on August 2-8, "Declared Anti-Communist Week in his country, where that State had not gone through a communist dictatorship, but in honor of the over 100,000 victims that Europe had gone through from this dictatorship, expressed gratitude and respect, and called on the whole world to condemn this evil doctrine as America condemns it. He warns that regardless of the end of the Cold War, ideologies that limit individual freedoms continue to reappear in new forms. The Proclamation ends with the commitment that the United States will continue to defend the right to "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" by placing communism in the bin of history, says President Trump! He joins you, deputies of the Assembly of Albania, in this proclamation that honors the persecuted anti-communist politicians of Albania and honors the victims of communism! I the only country in Europe that has condemned the crimes of communism by law! We hope that the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party should express solidarity with President Trump's proclamation in honor of the sacrifices of anti-communist Albanians, otherwise any silence or lack of reaction makes you players of communist ideology!

The decision to nominate Mr. Ndregjoni stems from his 35 years of activity as a representative of 40% of Albanians who survived the dictatorship, and experienced severe suffering and injustice, and the moral obligation that this will be their Voice in constitutional institutions.

 During the previous legislature, the majority did not pass it on the pretext of making an agreement with the DP. This inaction constituted a clear violation of the law on the election of the People's Advocate!

During the dictatorship, his family suffered macabre persecution for the crimes of communism, with shootings, imprisonments, and drowning in the investigation, and he was forbidden to vote as an Enemy of the communist party, history repeated itself in the Albanian Parliament, in 2025 he was forbidden to vote as a real anti-communist representative of persecuted politics after three decades! We inform the Albanian Parliament that he is the only candidate who has implemented the law for the stages of the election, after meeting the criteria, he waited for the decision of the Laws Committee on November 17, 2025, and on November 18, 2025, he submitted the support of 28 deputies of the three opposition parliamentary groups to be voted on in the plenary session!

We believe that the People's Advocate should remain independent of any political influence, free from the interests of the government or the opposition, guided only by the law and by human conscience. This is our candidate! Because decisions that violate the Constitution are not political actions - they are injustices that strike the citizen and the spirit of the rule of law. We assure Albanians that Mr. Ndregjoni as the People's Advocate, stands above political interests, who speaks with the force of law against any injustice and who represents the voice of the ordinary citizen in the face of power!

We address the Socialist Party as the majority, the Democratic Party as the Opposition, "Leave the Kim Philby game of the 50s against anti-communist Albanians who were killed in disloyalty to this game, because they wanted a democratic European Albania, do not play the "Kim Philby" game against the representative candidate of anti-communism persecuted by the dictatorship in Albania, God Bless Besim Ndregjoni!
