Interior Minister Tauant Balla has published footage of the extradition of Ruben Ribeiro Saraiva, the Portuguese accused of being the murderer of Ardian Nikulaj. Saraiva was extradited from Morocco to face Albanian justice. 

"Thanks to the strong support of Interpol, with whom we are working every day to find wanted persons, as well as cooperation with Moroccan law enforcement agencies, the extradition of the citizen Ruben Ribeiro Saraiva, a person wanted by justice, was just completed at the "Mother Teresa" Airport Albanian as a suspect for a serious crime. Realizing this extradition, even though we do not have an extradition agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco, has already given us the experience but also the confidence to continue our efforts to end impunity against persons who are hiding in other countries. Congratulations to the Department of International Relations, Interpol Tirana and the hard-working guys of RENEA for carrying out 78 extraditions to Albania during this year, which is ending today. I expect more in the New Year 2024!", says Balla. 

The Portuguese has been imprisoned in Morocco since May, while during the extradition he was accompanied by a team of Albanian police. 

There are suspicions that Saraiva was paid by Edmond Haxhia to kill Nikulaj for revenge.

For the same incident that the Portuguese murderer is accused of, 3 British citizens and Edmond Haxhia, who is suspected of ordering, have been arrested in England. Even for the latter, the Albanian authorities have sent a request for their extradition from Britain to Albania.
