Figures from the academic world have praised the act of placing the bust of the prominent intellectual, Llazar Zai Fundo, in the heart of the city of Korça.

Historian and professor Aurel Plasari emphasized that the placement of the bust of Llazar Fundo in Korça restores historical justice to one of the most persecuted intellectuals of the century.

The historian told CNA that the monument built by Korça is a historical debt, an added value to the memory of Korça and Albania, for a victim who, rather than simply calling him a dictatorship, was a personal victim of Enver Hoxha.

Plasari revealed other historical details, saying that former dictator Enver Hoxha, in his message to kill Zai Fundon, the first question he asked was "Why did he go to Kosovo?"

Historian and professor Aurel Plasari underlined that this is an indication of the rulers' jealousy against intellectuals and people of reason.

"It is a historical lesson for all times, not just for the time when the tragedy of his physical disappearance occurred," emphasized historian and professor Aurel Plasari.

"I think that the monument that Korça built is a historical debt, an added value to the memory of Korça and Albania, for a victim who, more simply than we can call it, of the dictatorship, is a personal victim of Enver Hoxha.

This is a truth that must be emphasized in history because it is already documented, regardless of the different interpretations that have been given to the crime of his physical execution and his torture.

Let's not forget that in his message to kill Zai Fundo, Enver Hoxha, who was not yet in power and had started the killings, ordered that he be asked several questions, and the first was "Why did he go to Kosovo?".

"This should make us understand even more clearly the context of the execution of an intellectual like Llazar Fundo, as an indicator of the jealousy of the rulers against intellectuals and people of reason. It is a historical lesson for all times, not just for the time when the tragedy of his physical disappearance occurred," historian Aurel Plasari told CNA./ CNA
