Aulon Kalaja declared "non grata" by Greece

Journalist and activist Aulon Kalaja has announced that he has been declared "non grata" by Greece.

Status of Aulon Castle

Dear friends!
I want to share with you the news that I have been declared a “NON-GRATA PERSON” by the Greek state.
I have officially requested information about the motive for the “Non-GRATA” against me, but it has been impossible. Unofficially, I have learned that there are two charges against me:
- Endangering the national security of Greece
- Accusation of racism
I believe that this measure against me has been taken for two reasons. First, because of my activity as an activist and secondly as a journalist.
1- I want to bring to your attention that I, together with a group of patriotic activists, activists of the national issue, have organized protests in front of the Prime Minister's Office and 20 Albanian cities, against the maritime agreement with Greece, by the prime ministers of the Rama-Tsipras era. Also the protest of January 20, 2018, where the Greek Foreign Minister, Kotzias visited Korça and met with the Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati. We have requested reciprocity, so that the sea is not sold, that the “Chama issue” be resolved, that the sea agreement be submitted for incidental review to the Constitutional Court and others. As a result of protests and other events, the sea agreement with Greece failed, fortunately for us.
2- Also, a documentary that I made about the murders of Albanians in Greece, at the border, in prisons and by the Greek police in police stations. The documentary “Justice for Pëllumbi” which is on YouTube, talks about Pëllumbi Marnikollaj from Lezghin, who died at the “Ano Patisia” Police Station in Athens, in August 2016 and where the Greek police report is that the young Albanian committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of the police station. But the documentary I made proves that he was killed inside the police station by Greek police officers with blunt instruments, according to the forensic expert interviewed by me and other chilling testimonies. There is no justice and no perpetrator for the Marnikollaj case. The case is frozen, when 10 years have passed since the murder. The documentary also reveals the names of over 200 other Albanians killed by soldiers, prison guards and police officers in Greece.
I love Albania and if this is the measure that segments of the Greek state declare undesirable, 100 such measures will not stop me from being a patriot for my homeland.
I do not want either decorations or epaulettes. That is why I announced this news so late, after 8 years of waiting, when I have no other path to seek my right.
I would also like to inform you that the "non grata" measure was communicated to me at the border on July 20, 2019. Although I have made every effort to establish my honor in the country, I have not been able to give direction to the case. I would like to tell you that I have not been able to initiate legal proceedings in the Greek state, although I have made every effort. My Greek lawyers, 3 of them, withdrew from my case when they first contacted the Greek police. Strange, but true.
Without exhausting the steps of the Greek judiciary, I cannot turn to the European Court of Human Rights, otherwise known as the Strasbourg Court. Unable to pursue this path and convinced of my innocence and the unilateralism of Greece in declaring me "persona non grata", I decided to make this news public. I feel insulted by this measure because I have never made racist statements or gestures or any activity that violates Greek laws. I also feel bad when, at the borders of Europe, they separate me from others and question me, after they see the Greek note on the first page of my passport. But I want to tell you that I have not changed my passport, although years have passed since that day and I have had to move abroad. But I have asked the EU Border Police, more specifically a German police officer stationed at the Kakavija Border Post, to make a note of my name and he wrote as follows:
"Returned from the Greek Police in the "INAD" category, with the option of being characterized as an undesirable person in the Greek national register "letter H". We emphasize that this citizen is a journalist and there is no problem in our system. The German officer of "FROTEXS", stationed at the Kakavija BCP, confirms that the citizen Aulon Kalaja is not registered with an entry ban in the "SIS", Schengen Information System. This citizen is only banned from entering the Greek state, according to the national register for foreigners."
In conclusion, with my calculations, I think that I was declared "non grata" in 2018, where the 2 above-mentioned events coincide. So the protests against the falsification of the Greek sea and the publication of the documentary about the murders of Albanians by Greek uniforms. But to this day, I have not received an official notification from the Greek state about when this measure was imposed and with what motivation, so that I have the right to appeal. Therefore, the Greek state has violated the law. And I want justice to be served by the Strasbourg Court. I learned the news that I am an undesirable person for Greece by chance, at the "Qafë Botës" customs, while I was traveling with my parents and my girlfriend, (now my wife), where we had booked a summer vacation in Lefkada. My family had no problems, while I was stopped and the measure was communicated to me and the "NON GRATA" stamp was placed on the first page of my passport. We returned to Albania and the Greek vacation became Albanian vacation.
I will pursue every legal avenue for the truth to come out. My honor and dignity to return to their place. I have done nothing wrong in relation to Greece. To be continued...
