On the dividing border between Velipoja and Ulcinj, in the area otherwise called "Derdhja e Buna" after a few days will officially begin work on the construction of a new bridge that will connect Velipoja with Ulcinj.

This project was presented during the Open Balkans between the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama and the Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazovic.

This bridge will serve to connect the two countries, Albania and Montenegro at a distance which was previously 74 kilometers and will now be less than 1 kilometer.

Gjatësia totale e urës do të jetë 310 metra dhe hapësira mes dy këmbëve mbajtëse do të jetë 139 metra. Me një gjerësi prej 17 metrash, ura do të ketë dy korsi trafiku nga 3,75 metra secila, dy trotuare nga 2 metra secili dhe dy korsi për biçikleta nga 1,25 metra secila. Kjo urë do të lidhë 34 kilometra plazhe me rërë, të cilat vizitohen nga rreth 530 mijë turistë në vit.

Për sipërmarrësit në zonën e Ada Bujanës në Ulqin, një investim i tillë është do të nxisë turizmin dhe do afrojë shqiptarët me njëri-tjetrin.

"In my opinion, this project is very significant for our city because this bridge greatly reduces the difference for foreign tourists as well as for tourists coming from Kosovo. It is a very good opportunity for us. This is a union between all Albanians, as well as from Kosovo because it is a short difference and enables them to visit Ulcinj in a short time, "- said Jetmir Gjoni, entrepreneur in Ulcinj.

The year 2024 is expected to be the deadline for the completion of this bridge and coincides with the completion of the road connecting Shengjin and Velipoja by fulfilling an important strategic corridor for tourism like the Shengjin-Velipoja-Ulcinj with an optimal distance for tourists and a road panoramic along the sea./euronews
