Spiro Bardhi and Bofill are red-handed in Dhërmi

Red Sol Resort, an all-red complex, is the newest resort being built on the Dhërmi coast. Designed by Spanish studio Bofill, the complex is conceived in the shape of a fortress, all painted a strong red. The resort's construction company is Drymades Gallery, owned by businessman Spiro Bardhi, otherwise known by the nickname Ragami.

The labyrinthine design embodies a contemporary castle set into the rugged terrain of the Ionian coast. The structure consists of pavilions, apartments and villas interconnected in a series of squares at different heights. Stairs, bridges and walkways crisscross the site, giving the resort a labyrinth-like character.

Painted in a vibrant earthy red, the resort’s fortress-like presence contrasts with the surrounding greens and blues. Connected by a network of stairs, bridges and outdoor walkways, the various blocks include swimming pools, a Spanish courtyard and secluded lookout points.

The south coast as a laboratory

The South Coast has become a laboratory where various architectural studios from around the world conduct their experiments. In fact, this is one of the biggest businesses in Albania at the moment.

All builders who apply for a permit are forced to contract an architectural studio from abroad to obtain a building permit. This is a non-negotiable condition imposed by the prime minister himself, especially in recent years. And it is big business because foreign architects are earning millions of euros in Albania.

The south coast has been entrusted mainly to Spanish studios.

The permit for Red Sol was granted by the KKT in June last year. In fact, at that meeting, the agenda included the approval of both the development and construction permits. The construction company Drymades Gallery was established at the end of 2022. Its shares are 100 percent owned by Korçë businessman Spiro Bardhi.

Bardhi is not an unknown name to the public. He owns one of the most popular hotels in Korça, In Gallery. But this is not the only reason for his fame in the public.

In the past, Bardhi has been attacked by the opposition as an oligarch who controls the economy of Korça. Sali Berisha has publicly denounced him as the famous boss of Korça, who is above the law./ Kapital.al
