Prime Minister Edi Rama opened today's episode of his podcast "Flasim" with a greeting to women on International Women's Day. He said that the role of women in government over the last decade has been a particularly supported role.
"The role of women in public and social life has been a role addressed and supported in a special way in this decade of our governance. I have no choice but to wish a happy March 8th to all Albanian women. Not only do I thank them for everything they do, but I hope that their participation and commitment will increase," said Rama.
The head of government further spoke about Albania's participation in the tourism fair in Berlin, where he said that this is a sign that the upcoming tourist season will be even more successful.
"An important moment of this week was Albania's participation in the tourism fair in Berlin. Last year, Albania was invited to Berlin as the country that was put on a pedestal. This year, from March 3-5, Albania was re-presented at that fair as the authentic Mediterranean destination. With over 100 thousand participants, the Berlin fair remains one of the most extraordinary tourism scenes. Albania's participation there is a sign that the coming season will be even more successful ," said Rama.
The head of government also commented on the situation in the Middle East. He said that in this situation, the priority for Albania is the security of Albanians in the region.
Regarding speculation that Albania could be hit by Iran, Rama said that it is only disinformation from what he referred to as “the evil within our country.” He added that Albania is a member of NATO and the speed of reaction as seen in Turkey applies to all member countries of the alliance.
"Even though we are affected not physically but politically, spiritually by the developments in the Middle East and by the escalation in a region where we have strong friendship with Israel and the Persian Gulf countries. These countries have been in the range of Iranian aggression. The situation remains complicated and it is difficult to see the end of an offensive rightly launched by the US and coordinated with Israel. At this moment, for us too, the priority is the security of Albanians in those countries. Our diplomatic missions in the region are in constant contact with us and the local authorities. The key issue of flights remains a challenge for everyone. We are in solidarity with all the countries affected, including Cyprus, which was hit, but also Turkey, which was also attempted to be hit. As for Albania, there have been all kinds of speculations, but unlike other countries, we have the greatest evil within us. We have the greatest source of lies and disinformation here. And from here, a series of news reports have been produced about the alleged possibility of an attack on Albania. But I remind you that Albania is a member of NATO and the speed of reaction as seen in Turkey applies to all member countries of the alliance , "said Rama. /CNA
