SPAK closes investigations into one of the factions of the Tirana incinerator

The Special Prosecution Office has closed the investigations into one of the factions of the Tirana incinerator.

SPAK has sent the officials and their associates for trial, specifically the 10 defendants, Mirel Mërtiri, Klodian Zoto, Dashamir Ymeraj, Arjola Kodra, Denisa Tollkuçi, Elton Bualli, Endrit Habilaj, Renato Nallbani, Giuseppe Ciaffaglione and Marc Richard Lappat.

Charges have been filed against them for "Laundering of proceeds of crime or criminal activity", committed in collaboration, specifically within the framework of a structured criminal group, "Fraud with serious consequences" and "Structured criminal group, Committing criminal offenses by a criminal organization".

Meanwhile, we recall that the Tirana incinerator file has another faction for the senior state officials involved.

Where one of the most accused persons for his relations with the incinerator people and their documents is Erion Veliaj, the arrested mayor of Tirana.

The Tirana incinerator was seized by SPAK in the summer of 2023, after it emerged that the company that won the concession to build the incinerator worth 128 million Euros was owned by businessmen Mirel Mërtiri and Klodian Zoto.

The latter two are internationally wanted for the Fier and Elbasan incinerators.
