Fire situation in the country/ 23 active fires this Thursday

The Ministry of Defense announced this afternoon that after the engagement of emergency forces, the fire situation appears to have stabilized in many problematic areas.

Currently, 23 active fires have been reported.

Work is being done in these areas:

* Syri i Kaltër (Delvinë) – Work continues to extinguish the fire on the heights of Sopot Mountain. On the ground are 67 firefighting forces with 11 vehicles, 30 municipal forces, 80 FA personnel with 10 vehicles, 6 ambulances and 30 support forces. The Italian “Canadair” aircraft is also in support.

* Pecë, Sirikat, Kardhikaq (Finiq) – The fire in the area of bushes and forests is being monitored by local structures.

* Kuç (Himara) – Fire in forest area, firefighting forces in operation.

* Brataj (Selenica) – Fire in bushes and forests, firefighting forces on the ground.

* Mali me Gropa, Val (Bulqizë) – Two fires in a protected area, rugged terrain; being monitored by AdZM employees and volunteer forces.

* Ternovo (Bulqizë) – Fire in dense forests, 8 firefighters, forestry, municipal and Armed Forces forces in operation, with support from a helicopter.

* Zhapokiki, Plasnik, Balloll Reserve (Poliçan) – Rapidly spreading fire, 20 residents were evacuated yesterday. Firefighters, AdZM employees, military forces and 3 helicopters (2 from the United Arab Emirates and 1 from the Czech Republic) are operating on the ground.

* Velçan (Berat) – After the engagement since noon, with interventions from the ground and from the air, it has been possible to avert the danger to the homes in Velçan, Berat Municipality. The situation is being closely monitored by AKMC, while 20 additional Armed Forces personnel and 2 Air Force helicopters will continue to operate until the fire is completely neutralized.

* Orizaj (Skrapar) – Bush fire, no danger to homes, under monitoring.

* Vokopolë (Poliçan) – Low intensity outbreak, under monitoring.

* Mbrakull (Poliçan) – Situation calm and under control.

* Ibë (Tirana) – Fire brought under control, danger to homes avoided.

* Damjan-Fortuzaj and Isufaj (Tirana) – Fire brought under control, no danger to homes.

* Ferraj and Zall-Herr (Tirana) – The fire has been brought under control, after a very difficult task due to the terrain.

* Spanesh, Kazie (Rrogozhinë ) – Isolated fire, under observation.

* Dhuvjan, Lugar, Frashtan (Dropull) – Fire under control, situation calm.

*Hormovë (Tepelena) – Fire on the heights of Maja e Golik; another hearth near the RTSH antennas is being monitored.

* Kullollas, Kodovjat, Ermenj (Gramsh) – The spread towards the village of Nartë has been stopped, after the work of the forces. On the ground are firefighters, municipal forces, the Armed Forces and volunteers.

* Mukaj, Sojnik (Gramsh) – Fire in bushes and brambles, no homes are at risk; firefighters, Armed Forces and volunteers are on the ground.

* Kunorë Dardhë – Laku Klyz, Rrafshi i Sakatit (Fushë Arrëz) – The situation is serious, the fire is advancing in difficult terrain towards mountainous areas. Over 150 municipal, forestry, volunteer and AF forces are involved in the operation.

* Gërmenj (Kologë) – Fire in pine forests, under operation by firefighting forces.

* Velës (Mirditë) – Fire in pine forest, municipal, forestry and volunteer firefighting forces on the ground, with difficulty due to the density of vegetation. /CNA
