How is the situation with the fires/ 21 fires in 24 hours, three of them still

The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, has provided information about the situation of fires in Albania.

Through a status on social networks, Peleshi announces that in the last 24 hours, 21 fires have been registered, 18 of which have been extinguished.

He declares that 3 fires are still active in the village of Pregja-Lure in Dibra, in the village of Shënmëri in Mirdita and in Dropull in Poshtëm.

Currently, the work to extinguish them by the fire brigade and the Armed Forces is continuing.

"21 fires have been registered in the last 24 hours, in the territory of the country. 18 of them have been extinguished thanks to the continuous efforts of hundreds of operational forces working in the field, in these high temperatures. According to the data from the National Operational Center of Civil Emergencies, 3 fires are still active.

The operatives of the Armed Forces and the Fire Forces, together with those of the forest service, are working for the complete isolation of the hearth in the village of Pregja-Lure, in Dibër. The work has continued to extinguish the fire that occurred in the village of Shënmëri of the municipality of Mirditë, as well as in the hearth of the fire between the villages of Goranxi and Derviçan, in Dropull i Poshtëm. Due to the temperatures, the difficult terrain and the strong wind, the fire yesterday in this area reached large proportions, worsening the situation in the villages of Dhuvjan, Goranxi and Derviçan.

The Armed Forces are always ready to help put out fires, whenever their intervention is required. We ask the residents to cooperate with the local authorities, by reporting fires in time, to avoid spreading to wider areas", declares the Minister of Defense./ CNA
