After more than a week of intensive efforts, the fire that spread from Shkopeti, endangering three villages in the territory of the Mirditë municipality, has been completely extinguished.

The Mayor of Mirdita, Albert Melyshi, stated that the damage caused to the forestry economy is considerable, but thanks to continuous engagement on the ground, it has been possible to save citizens' property.

"The Mirdita Municipality has gone through a difficult situation due to fires in June and July, but especially in recent days. The summer situation is always problematic, especially in Mirdita where there are many forest areas. This year we have had over 35 cases of fires. The most difficult situation was this week when the fire came from Shkopeti. The damage is great as large forest areas have been burned, but fortunately it was extinguished while they are being monitored in case of reactivation and we are prepared for any possible case."

Since the beginning of June, Mirdita has been facing a difficult fire situation, while the responsible structures continue to remain on high alert to face any possible problems that may arise from high temperatures and favorable conditions for the spread of flames.
