"Albania accelerates the path towards the EU"/ Rama: Strategic

Albania's integration process into the European Union has entered a more dynamic phase, Prime Minister Edi Rama declared in an interview for the "EstOvest" show on RAI.

He emphasized that the acceleration of the process comes as a result of Albania's fulfillment of obligations and a more favorable climate in Brussels for EU enlargement.

"It is an old Albanian dream that is being realized thanks to strong cooperation with Brussels," Rama said.

The focus of the interview was also relations with Italy, which Rama described as strong and consolidated. He emphasized that Italy is Albania's main supporter on its path towards the European Union.

One of the strategic projects that is advancing with Italian support is Corridor VIII, which will connect the Adriatic coast with the Black Sea, creating an important transport and security axis for the region. According to the Italian ambassador, Marco Alberti, the project includes roads, railways, ports, airports and digitalization, improving security and stability in the region.

Rama also spoke about the 1 billion euro trilateral underwater line project that will connect Albania, Italy and the United Arab Emirates, considering it a strategic project for Europe.

Albania remains clearly positioned close to strategic allies such as the US, NATO and the European Union, even offering the Kuçova air base to the Alliance./ CNA
