Skënder Hita has been approved by the government as the Director General of the State Police. Hita is a career figure in the State Police, having held leadership positions in regions with significant security challenges.

One of these regions is Shkodra, where Hita has also served as deputy director of criminal investigation. The period in this position is considered one of the stages that has consolidated his professional profile, given that the area has historically been one of the points where police structures have faced serious criminal events and the need for continuous coordination between operational and investigative structures.

Hita has also been the director of police in the Durrës region. This region is also considered one of the most sensitive areas of the country due to the largest port in Albania, high economic activity and the large movement of people and goods.

During the period of Hita's leadership of the police structures in Durrës, several serious criminal incidents were also uncovered. One of them is the analysis of the testimony of the brothers Indrit and Gentjan Beqiraj, which shed light on several serious criminal incidents in Durrës, Tirana and other areas of the country. 

The news of his appointment to this position was announced by the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari. The latter stated that Hita has emerged among the most highly regarded candidates from a competitive process, demonstrating outstanding experience, clear strategic vision and unwavering commitment to the law and citizens.

Lamallari states that under his leadership "the State Police will continue to strengthen its performance, increase the trust of citizens and fulfill its mission with dedication in the service of security and the rule of law."

Hita succeeds Ilir Proda, who was dismissed from his post a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, 13 other candidates participated in the race for the State Police, who were: Afrim Tafa, Alfred Çepe, Arjanit Arapi, Elidon Çela, Gentian Berberi, Gentjan Shehaj, Idajet Faskaj, Lorenc Panganika, Neritan Nallbati, Pëllumb Seferi, Rebani Jaupi, Saimir Boshnjaku, and Tonin Vocaj. /CNA
