Queues and waiting in Kapshtica, due to the new control system on the Greek side

Queues and waiting have formed at the Kapshtica customs exit, at the moment when citizens need to cross to the Greek side.

The cause of this situation is the new control system at the Greek border, which requires the registration of fingerprints for every traveler.

According to data, the Greek side works with a single counter, while the new system has resulted in wait times of 1 to 2 hours.

From CNA's field observations, it is noted that the Albanian side of the Kapshtica border crossing is almost empty and without traffic, while queues of vehicles have formed on the Greek side due to longer control procedures.

Although there is not a high number of travelers, the processing time for each person has increased significantly, causing delays and dissatisfaction among citizens waiting to cross the border./ CNA
