Customs Director meets with British Ambassador/Bilateral cooperation discussed

The Director of Customs, Besmir Beja, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Tirana, Nicholas Abbott. The meeting discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of customs and border security.

Beja appreciated the support of the United Kingdom, underlining the role of partnership with British institutions in modernizing procedures and increasing effectiveness in the fight against illegal activities.

He underlined the importance of concrete cooperation with structures such as HM Revenue and Customs and Home Office International Operations programs, particularly in terms of technology and information exchange.

The parties also discussed the need to intensify information exchange and the use of advanced technologies for risk analysis, in order to face new challenges related to security and international trade.  /CNA
