At today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, a financial reward was approved for the police officer who fell in the line of duty, Enea Mekolli, as well as for the injured officer, Edison Adri.

Through a statement, the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, says that their sacrifice in confronting crime will not be forgotten.

Meanwhile, in addition to the reward, the child of the Martyr of the Homeland, Enea Mekolli, will benefit from other monthly financial treatment until he reaches adulthood, according to the Law "On the Status of 'Children in the Care of the Republic'".

"At today's Government meeting, we approved the decisions for financial support for the families of two officers; Martyr of the Fatherland, Enea Mekolli, and Edison Adrit, who was injured in the confrontation with crime. 5 and 3 million new lek will be allocated to their families, respectively.

No amount of help can ease the pain of this serious event, but the state has the obligation to stand by their families, with respect, gratitude and concrete support. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.  In addition to today's decision, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is following all legal procedures for the treatment of the family of Martyr of the Homeland Enea Mekolli according to the Law "On the status of 'Children in the Care of the Republic'", Lamallari's reaction states. /CNA
