This Thursday, the annual forum of regulatory entities of the Black Sea countries/BRAF was held.

The Chairperson of the Audiovisual Media Authority, Armela Krasniqi, has directed the conference held in Turkey on the topic "Disinformation and digital media education".

Through a status on social networks, Krasniqi informs that at this conference he spoke about the role of the AMA as a regulatory entity in the Albanian audio and audiovisual media market and about the measures taken in the direction of media education of the public.

She mentions the changes in the media law and says that they increased the role of television for media education of the public.

The president of the AMA emphasizes that the audience must have the necessary education in the use of online media, know how to distinguish and select the correct information from the false one and have the appropriate analytical and critical ability in the complex online realities.

"At the annual forum of regulatory entities of the Black Sea countries/BRAF, where we discussed the challenges of media licensing in the digital age, disinformation, media education of the public, as development of its critical ability, to understand and to was involved responsibly in the media etc. At the conference held in Turkey, where I had the honor to moderate the panel on the topic, "Disinformation and digital media education", organized by the Turkish Radio-Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) - with the participation of the heads of the regulatory bodies of Greece, Turkey and Serbia - in addition to the presentation of the AMA and its role as a regulatory entity in the Albanian audio and audiovisual media market, I shared with the participating colleagues other measures taken in the direction of public media education.

In May of this year, in accordance with the 2018 EU Directive, we made the necessary changes to the law "On Audiovisual Media in the Republic of Albania", changes that further strengthened the competences of the AMA, increasing its role in encouraging actors and broadcasters operating in the Albanian market, for media education of the public. It is important that citizens have access to information, but it is equally important that they have the necessary education in the use of online media, know how to distinguish and select correct information from false information, and have the appropriate skills analytical and critical in complex online realities", underlines Krasniqi./ CNA
