The EU delegation has rejected the claims of Gazment Bardhi, who earlier stated that the EU and the US have expressed their concern to advance the elections for the People's Advocate.

In a statement to the media, the EU Delegation informed that there was no contact with members of the opposition regarding the election of the People's Advocate.

Among other things, it underlines that the Delegation does not enter into the internal affairs of political parties.

"The EU delegation believes in the decisive importance of the opposition for the functioning of democratic institutions. However, the EU Delegation does not comment or interfere in the internal affairs of political parties. In this case, the EU Delegation did not discuss with the members of the opposition about the unfinished issue of the election of the People's Advocate by the parliament. The EU Delegation fully supports every effort undertaken to finalize the election of the Ombudsman, another important step for Albania in the EU membership process", was the response of the EU Delegation./ CNA
