"The road" wreaks havoc/ Tens of thousands of fines for drivers

In order to prevent road accidents in urban and rural centers, as well as on national road axes, the Road Police has intensified monitoring.

As a result of monitoring on all road axes, 24/7, using intelligent Polish vehicles, automatic radars, high-quality drones and draggers, during this week 66 drivers were arrested for driving while intoxicated and for driving without a driving license.

1,800 vehicle drivers who were driving at a speed of 40 to 120 km per hour above the permitted rate were recorded through radars and police scanners. The drivers have been punished with double the maximum administrative measure and a deduction of up to 8 points from the Driving Permit.

Also, 25,158 administrative measures have been imposed throughout the country for speeding over the permitted rates, for using a mobile phone while driving, for not using a seat belt, for wrong passing, for not wearing a protective helmet, for dangerous maneuvers in road, for driving under the influence of alcohol, for wrong parking, as well as for other violations of the Traffic Code.

For the following week, based on the numerous violations found during the week and before, the Traffic Police has drawn up a detailed plan of measures to prevent road accidents.

The Traffic Police appeals to all drivers of vehicles and motor vehicles to strictly implement the traffic rules, to give priority to pedestrians and not to perform wrong overtaking or dangerous maneuvers, not to use mobile phones while driving and put on the seat belt.

Drivers of motor vehicles and users of bicycles and skateboards should not circulate at night without phosphorescent distinctive signs, as well as pedestrians should be careful in those places where there are no overpasses or white lines, not crossing the road without checking the movement in both directions./ CNA
