"12% increase in fire cases"/ Cara: 3981 fires this year, management

The Director of the Fire Service, Arben Cara, stated today that so far this year, 3,981 fires have been registered throughout the country.

In a television appearance, Cara shared comparative data with last year, where she highlighted a 12% increase.

Cara also discussed the difficulties of firefighting, such as difficult terrain and management.

"We have about 3981 fires and rescue interventions in total. Of these, 3120 have been fires in forests and pastures. Most of the interventions have been in areas with pine and spruce trees, but also in the peripheral areas of cities and villages where the residents themselves have been the ones who have created the fires by clearing their orchards and pastures. If we take last year and this year, in just two months we have over 1200 fires in forests and pastures, which has led to an increasing trend. We have grown by at least 12%. So if in a week we had 6 or 7 fires last year, this year we have had 13 fires almost every week. The infrastructure is such that you encounter difficulties in every case when firefighting vehicles do not access the fire source and the difficulty of managing a fire source is greater and in addition to ground forces, help is also required from air", Cara declared. /CNA
