The intense rainfall of the last 24 hours and the increased flows in the Drin River cascade have led to an increase in water levels in the Shkodra region. The Prefecture has announced that the situation is being monitored on the ground, while emergency structures remain on standby.

According to the announcement of the Albanian Electric Power Corporation (KESH), after assessing the hydrological situation, controlled discharges have begun from the hydropower plants of the Drini cascade: Fierza Hydropower Plant, Koman Hydropower Plant and Vau i Dejës Hydropower Plant.

Water on agricultural lands in Obot

Since yesterday afternoon, an increase in the levels of the Drin and Buna rivers, as well as Lake Shkodra, has been observed. In the Oboti area, water is reported to be present mainly in agricultural lands, expanding the flooded area, but without danger to homes so far.

The road connecting the village to the main road is flooded with about 40–50 centimeters of water, which has made it difficult for small vehicles to move.

There are two high-traffic vehicles and 10 personnel of the Albanian Armed Forces on the ground, engaged for any emergency need.

Snow and avalanches in mountainous areas

Meanwhile, snowfall has caused problems on mountain roads. The Bogë–Theth road continues to be affected by intense rainfall, while Qafa e Thorës remains blocked in the tunnel area due to avalanches. Snow removal vehicles are working to open the road.

On the Hani i Hotit-Vermosh axis, there is heavy snowfall above 1000 meters, where traffic is carried out only with winter tires and with the assistance of snow removal vehicles.

No problems are reported from the municipalities of Malësi e Madhe, Vau i Dejës, Pukë and Fushë-Arrëz.
