Jan Prenga's kidnapping/Dritan Rexhepi testifies in the Criminal Court

In the Special Court, Dritan Rexhepi testified for the first time about the disappearance of Jan Prenga.

Rexhepi is accused of ordering the kidnapping and murder of Jan Prenga.

In his testimony, Rexhepi said that in 2019, he was abroad, more specifically in prison in Ecuador.  

" At the end of 2019, I was outside Albania. I was in prison in Ecuador, I was sentenced to 13 years for drug trafficking. Are you going to ask me about the case or are you going to hold a moral trial for me? I had been serving my sentence for 5 years and 4 months. I had contacts with people outside through the prison cell. There were a lot of Albanians in prison, I was close to someone from Kosovo. I was accused of drug trafficking with 10 other people, at that time there was also an Albanian involved,"  said Rexhepi.

Dritan Rexhepi was arrested on November 10, 2023 in Istanbul and extradited to Tirana on January 8 of this year.

Jan Prenga was kidnapped on January 17, 2020 in Kamëz, after several days of pursuit./ CNA
