"The government has started the tour with drums and fanfare"/ Këlliçi: Price increases are burdening citizens

"The government has started the tour with drums and fanfare"/

DP MP Belind Këlliçi has reacted harshly to the economic situation in the country, accusing the government of propaganda and a lack of concrete measures to cope with rising prices.

The MP states that, while the government promotes its tour, citizens face difficulties in affording basic food products.

He brought examples from markets in cities such as Shkodra and Korca, where, according to him, food prices have increased.

According to Këlliç, pensioners are among the most affected, highlighting the case of a citizen who, due to her low income, can only buy basic products such as cucumbers, milk, and yogurt.

He also added that many citizens are crossing the border to buy food and fuel in Montenegro and North Macedonia, due to lower prices, despite the travel costs.

In his statement, Këlliçi also criticized the European integration process, accusing the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama of obstructing it.

In conclusion, he called on citizens to react and participate in the protest announced on April 17, describing this as a civic obligation in the face of the current situation.

"While the government has begun its tour with drums and fanfare, about the great work it has done, in the few free media outlets, citizens, pensioners in the country's markets, from Shkodra to Korça, appeared, who were unable to buy tomatoes and peppers.

One kg of tomatoes costs 380 lek, one kg of peppers costs 400 lek.

One lady said she only gets cucumbers, milk, and yogurt. That's all she can afford with her pension.

Thousands flee the borders every day to stock up on fuel and buy food in Montenegro and North Macedonia. So the cost of the trip, and even the fatigue, is worth it.

Someone from the outside who sees these images and hears these testimonies might think: Does this country have a government, and if so, has it taken any measures?!

The government was bragging about integration, when it is well known that Brussels has stopped the process, following Edi Rama's decision to protect corruption with votes in the Assembly.

The government was filling the screens with jobs for Albania... imaginary jobs!

How much longer will citizens endure this injustice and ridicule?

Reacting, raising your voice, is no longer simply a right.

It is an obligation, a call for the country.

"On April 17, we meet again at the protest square," writes Këlliçi./ CNA
