Journalist and analyst Mentor Kikia has spoken about the protests taking place in the capital.
In an interview with Euronews, Kikia said that from a political perspective, the protest is a very difficult mission, as unlike other protests, this protest does not have a specific demand.
He further highlights that there are several groups that, if the balance is disrupted, could end in a clash.
"The protest in the political aspect, I think it is absolutely a very difficult mission, because unlike the protest for chemical waste, unlike the protest for students, which we refer to as the culmination of civic awareness, this protest does not have a specific demand. The chemical weapons were: stop the import, it's over. The students were: we want better conditions, not dormitories, not auditoriums, not prices, so there was something to negotiate about. There are no negotiations here; one side says "you go", the other side says "you go", and here when you sit at the table you will sit with "sign the capitulation". There is no negotiation here, there is nothing to talk about. The reality is just that.
The protest above all does not have a leader, an individual or a group of individuals who can speak. This is seen as a handicap; on the other hand, so far it has been a good thing that has saved the protest as a movement, because if there is a group of individuals who lead it, then we will understand that within this movement there is not simply a danger, they will seduce, they will blackmail that small group. But there are at least 5-6 currents that clearly seem to be involved and with each other, that when some balances are broken, they start and jump. We saw it last night. So this representative group will have to hold an assembly within the protest to bring out the representation. So far the protest has resisted every kind of temptation, because in the representative group the tendency of the elements to interfere to control it is present, because then the protest turns into a kind of political company and everyone who tries to have more action, "said the journalist.
Kikia emphasizes that what poses a danger to the protest is that if it is seen as a catapult of power, it will be the most harmful thing because power is not placed on the boulevard.
"What now poses a risk to the protest, although I do not want to be among the people who give advice, but I try to contribute maximally to this new approach, is that if the protest is seen as a catapult of power, because there is a tendency to see that the one who will be exposed the most, the one who will show that he has the most control and authority over the protest, is potentially the successor in power, assuming that Rama will leave today or tomorrow, in fact this will be the most harmful thing, because power is not established on the boulevard", said Kikia./ CNA
