Analyst and journalist Mentor Kikia spoke this evening about the protests that have been taking place for 20 days in the capital.

Invited to Euronews Albania, he said that the protest has now turned into a social movement that, according to him, exceeded all expectations.

Among other things, during his speech, Kikia listed the achievements of this protest so far, one of which was the reaction of a society that, according to him, until yesterday was considered a "cafe society".

"The protest has taken the form of a social movement, which is bigger than a protest or a civic reaction. Taking stock of this movement is difficult because first of all, it is not known what stage the movement is in. But above all, it has gone beyond any prediction that anyone could have had. If I were to make just a very cold arithmetic balance, I could list two or three things. The protest in the environmental aspect, for which it was started, has mortgaged two achievements. The pressure that was finalized with an amendment to the European Parliament resolution. In the social aspect, the protest has achieved more than anyone could have predicted. Shaking society, irritating a nerve, biting a café society as we called ourselves and taking it to the streets. Now politics is on the table. Let's see how much this movement will be able to bring about political changes ," Kikia said. /CNA
