The deputy and former minister of the Socialist Party, Olta Xhaçka, spoke this evening about the scandal of announcing her husband as a strategic investor.

Xhaçka took the courage tonight to talk about her prolonged silence, which she justified by respecting the institutions.

Olta Xhaçka, who at that time was part of the Council of Ministers, tried to explain why her husband, businessman Artan Gaçi, gained the status of a strategic investor in the south of the country.

And today, the majority saved her mandate as a deputy.

"I did not speak because I respected the institutions.

In my view it has been a balloon. I wanted the whole process to be finalized without my intervention. The opposition accuses that I am in conflict with the mandate, and that the majority is not allowing my mandate to go to the Constitutional Court.

I have made a very big mistake, because I have allowed a story to grow, allowing this noise and accusations directed at me.

The status of the strategic investor is simply an incentive that the government gives to the elites to get the economy where it needs to be.

We are talking about a business that contributes to an important sector. We live in a capitalist economy. It would be illegal to benefit from public property.

A contract for the beach has not yet been concluded.

There is no favor or incentive for the status that my husband has obtained.

It is simply a private investment, bought in a private property," said Xhaçka./ CNA
