Rama and Vu?i?'s proposal for accelerated integration/ Marta Kos rejects

EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated at the Competitive Europe Summit in Brussels that the European Union has presented three options for enlargement policy, but progress cannot be made without the decisions of the member states.

She added that EU rules need to be changed to enable a new wave of countries to join.

Kos rejected the proposal of Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? and Prime Minister Edi Rama, who called for the accelerated integration of candidate countries into the Common Market and the Schengen area, without the right of veto.

"I'm not sure if the leaders (Vu?i? and Rama) know how much they have to do if they want to be part of Schengen or the common market, and that the reform process is difficult for economic integration, as well as for EU membership," Kos underlined./ CNA
