Proposals for changes to the Criminal Code/Criminal offenses for which penalties

The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has proposed some changes to the Criminal Code for the security package in schools.

Through a status on social networks, Balla announces some of the criminal offenses for which he will request tougher penalties.

This includes sexual violence, pornography, trafficking of minors, illegal possession of weapons, production and sale of narcotics, adaptation of premises for drug use, disposal of syringes, promotion of drug use and impaired driving.

Proposals for changes to the Criminal Code/Criminal offenses for which penalties

Full statement:

We will strengthen the School Security Package by law, making it possible to toughen the penalties provided for in the Penal Code for criminal offenses committed in the premises of an educational institution or in its security perimeter. The commission of a criminal offense in the premises of an educational institution or in its security perimeter is provided as an aggravating circumstance, if to the detriment of a minor, and, in any case, as a qualifying circumstance of the figure of the following criminal offenses:

• Sexual violence (Article 107/a);

• Pornography (Article 117);

• Trafficking of minors (Article 128/b);

• Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition (Article 278);

• Unauthorized production, possession, purchase or sale of cold weapons (Article 279);

• Production and sale of narcotics (Article 283);

• Adaptation of the premises for drug use (Article 285/a);

• Throwing or abandoning syringes (Article 285/b);

• Incitement to drug use (Article 286);

• Driving vehicles in an irregular manner (Article 291).

I am convinced that these changes to the Penal Code will contribute to increasing security, preventing crime and avoiding danger to the lives and health of our children and young people in all those environments in and around the schools attended by them./ CNA
