The prestigious media "New York Times" has sued the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
Politico reports that the lawsuit is related to the non-publication of text messages between Ursula von der Leyen and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.
The paper will face EU lawyers in the bloc's highest court, arguing that the Commission has a legal obligation to publish the messages.
It is believed that the messages may contain information on EU agreements to buy billions of euros of COVID-19 doses.
The case was filed on January 25 and was published yesterday in the public register of the European Court of Justice, but there is still no detailed information.
The lawsuit follows a January 2022 investigation by Emily O'Reilly, who alleges maladministration in the Commission's efforts to recover the messages.
Journalist Alexander Fanta had requested access to the messages, but the EU Commissioner for Values ??and Transparency, Vera Jourova, claimed that the text messages could have been deleted, due to their "short-lived and transitory nature"./ CNA.al
