The police solved the murder of 72-year-old Faik Ajdini in Memaliaj, arresting 4 people, an event that happened on August 19.

Gjirokastra Police Director, Ardian Çipa, said that 4 people were arrested in connection with this event.

In a media conference, Çipa stated that the perpetrators of the crime are Skënder Ajdini and Blerti Kanushi, who are accused of premeditated murder.

From all the investigative actions carried out, it was possible to find, fix and seize as material evidence, the knife with which the perpetrator committed the crime, as well as items and tools used by the suspects.

Allow me, through this communication with the public and the media, to inform you about the serious incident of the murder with a cold weapon, of the citizen Faik Ajdini, committed on August 19, 2024, in the village of Zhapokike, Memaliaj. Also, to inform you about the results of the investigation to clarify the event.

On 20.08.2024, around 06:40, we were informed that in the village of Zhapokike, Memaliaj, citizen Faik Ajdini, 72 years old, was found by family members, without signs of life, in a stream.

Upon receiving the notification, the police services, the leaders of the Gjirokastër Local Police Directorate and the Tepelena Police Station, as well as the Chief of the Memaliaj Police Station, employees of the Scientific Police Section and the expert of the Institute of Forensic Medicine went to the scene. From the preliminary examination of the corpse at the scene and from the initial circumstances, it was suspected that the victim had signs of violence and that the death could have been caused by a cutting tool.

In order to investigate and clarify this serious event, as well as to clarify the circumstances of its occurrence, a special investigative group was set up, headed by the prosecutor of the General Jurisdiction Prosecutor's Office of Gjirokastër, Mr. Bledar Bala and composed of 2 deputy directors of the Gjirokastra Local Police Directorate, specialists of the Section for Serious Crimes, the Chief of the Tepelen Police Station, the Chief of the Memaliaj Police Station, specialists of the Scientific Police Section, forensic experts, such as and other structures of the Gjirokastra Local Police Directorate. In addition, the work was coordinated and unreserved support was received, with human and logistical resources, from the Directorate of the Special Operational Force in the Criminal Police Department in the General Directorate of the State Police.

In order to deepen the investigation, items and tools were seized and taken for further examination, which were suspected to be related to the circumstances of the event and whose examination would identify the perpetrator and document the event with legal evidence.

In order to clarify the event and identify the perpetrators, a considerable number of people were accompanied and questioned. Interviews, verifications, controls and expertise were carried out. An investigative experiment was carried out and all other actions that the special investigative group deemed necessary to clarify and document the event were carried out.

Through intensive investigations, police intelligence, various statements and biological examinations of the evidence, it was possible to clarify the motive and document with legal evidence the authorship of this serious event, resulting in the death of the citizen Faik Ajdini.

From the investigative dynamics, it was concluded that due to conflicts for weak motives between the victim, citizen Faik Ajdini, and the spouses Skënder and Darovi Ajdini, the latter encouraged the citizen Blerti Kanushi, 23 years old, created the conditions and provided the means, for committing murder. This citizen, in cooperation with citizen Skënder Ajdini, on August 19, 2024, around 07:00 in the morning, committed the knife murder of citizen Faik Ajdini and then Blerti Kanushi left the scene. After committing the crime, Skëndër Ajdini and citizen Darovi Ajdini took active actions to prevent the discovery of the truth, making efforts to destroy the evidence of the crime. The citizen Bledar Ajdini, fully aware of the crime, supported the perpetrator of the crime, not informing the law enforcement institutions about his location.

By clarifying the circumstances of the event and the mechanism of its occurrence, we have organized the work for the location and capture of the citizen Blerti Kanushi and the seizure of all the evidence documenting his authorship in this serious crime. Following the investigations, on 20.08.2024 at 23:30, the following citizens were arrested in the act:

1. Skënder Ajdini, 71 years old, for the criminal offenses "Murder with premeditation" committed in cooperation, "Providing the conditions and material means to commit murder" and "Supporting the author of the crime", provided by articles 78/25, 80 and 302 of the Criminal Code;

2. Bledar Ajdini, 43 years old, for the criminal offense of "Supporting the author of the crime", provided by article 302 of the Criminal Code.

Also, in continuous and uninterrupted follow-up of operational and investigative actions in the field, on 22.08.2024, at 03:00, citizen Blerti Kanushi, 23 years old, was arrested red-handed for the criminal offense "Premeditated murder", committed in cooperation , provided by article 78/25 of the Criminal Code and the citizen Darovi Ajdini, 64 years old, for the criminal offenses "Actions that prevent the discovery of the truth" and "Supporting the author of the crime", provided by articles 301 and 302 of the Criminal Code.

From all the investigative actions carried out, it was possible to find, fix and seize as material evidence, the knife with which the author committed the crime, as well as other items and tools that influenced the circumstances of the event, used from the suspects. These items and tools will be subjected to further scientific examinations.

I want to assure the citizens that the employees of the Local Police Directorate of Gjirokastër, which operate throughout the territory of the district, are fully committed to guarantee order and security, as well as to fight any illegality in the territory.
