From false reporting of data to non-payment of guarantees/ MIE revokes 10 mining

At least 10 mining permits have been revoked by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy to entities that have obtained them over the years for various reasons.

In the list of listed subjects, most of the revocations are argued with the non-payment of the financial guarantee for the rehabilitation of the environment in 2023.

According to the legal framework, the National Agency of Natural Resources (AKBN), in the capacity of the structure responsible for exploitation permits and exploration-exploration-exploitation permits, evaluates the plan for the final and progressive rehabilitation of the environment and determines the monetary value of the mandatory financial guarantee, general and annual, for the implementation of the environmental rehabilitation plan for mining entities. This value is determined in the decision of the AKBN Technical Council and approved by the minister responsible for mining activity.

The owner of the mining permit submits to the KKB the financial guarantee for the realization of the environmental rehabilitation plan for the first year, no later than 30 days from the date of notification of the decision to approve the mining permit.

For the second and subsequent years, the annual financial guarantee document is deposited in AKBN, in KTA and in the ministry responsible for mining activity, no later than 30 calendar days after the end of the previous year, which is calculated starting from the effective date of receipt of the mining permit.

But it seems that some subjects have failed to comply with these requirements.

In another case, the revocation is based on the fact that the permit holder has not managed to implement the minimum work plan, which is one of the conditions that is determined from the beginning when the permit is obtained.

Similarly, MIE has revoked a permit for reporting false data regarding work or production, something that on the ground seems to have turned out quite differently and which served as a reason to go to this extent.
