Basha's group has raised concern about the state of the police in the country, which according to them is in the worst state.

In a statement to the media, Myzafer Elezi has denounced that thousands of officers are leaving despite the fact that the Ministry of the Interior does not provide any figures.

Among other things, it is emphasized that the most alarming problem related to the State Police is the public statement of the head of SPAK, which establishes the connection of some of its leaders with organized crime.

"The Democratic Party shares its concern with the citizens of the country regarding the security situation and increased criminality in the country.

We currently have a police force in its worst condition than ever, with major weaknesses in terms of organization and functioning.

We have a police force, which, like our entire country, is currently experiencing the hemorrhagic disease. There are thousands of officers who have left, despite the fact that the Ministry of the Interior does not provide any figures in this regard. But this fact alone is not enough, which undermines its presence on the ground, leaving control of the territory to thieves and crime gangs.

But, currently reorganized, it appears like an upside down pyramid due to the extreme swelling of its central level.

This is the police, which operates on the basis of a law approved in 2014. To this law, the majority has made 12 legal interventions affecting its foundations.

And as if these clientelistic interventions in this important body were not enough, its political leadership has started the public consultation of a new law project for the State Police.

Propaganda speaks of changes, while reality speaks of legal instability and discontinuity of procedures. The latter only cause confusion and inefficiency.

However, the most alarming problem related to the State Police is the public statement of the head of SPAK, which establishes the connection of some of its leaders with organized crime.

It is a public accusation that is not made by a political force, that is not made by a journalist or an NGO, but made by the country's most important institution for the fight against organized crime, SPAK.

Such a fact constitutes a strong alarm bell for the public, for our children, for the young people who leave the country every day, but also for the international partners who assist and cooperate with this police.

The Democratic Party unreservedly supports SPAK and encourages it in the fight against organized crime in the state administration, including crime within the Police structures," said Myzafer Elezi./ CNA
