Mass for Easter

Orthodox believers on Saturday evening celebrated the holiest night, the resurrection of Christ. Thousands of believers have filled the square in front of the Cathedral and the pedestrian street, waiting to receive the light of God through the flame.

The revival service was held by Monsignor Joan Pelushi, while the faithful lit candles to take home as a sign of good luck and kindness. The faithful have wished through Cna TV for a happy and healthy Easter, while they say that they have been looking forward to this day.

Messages from citizens in Korça

"Happy Easter, good luck to everyone. It is celebrated very nicely in Korça, I am Orthodox, a girl from Elbasan, married in Korça. I celebrate it every year, and I even have my son's name, Christi. I will take the flame home, it is a symbol of Easter for prosperity."

"Korcarians celebrate it differently from other districts, maybe thanks to the faith they have, but the atmosphere is different. Our wish is Happy Easter, Christ is risen. The fall of the eggshell is the resurrection of a new body."

"Let's enjoy this wonderful holiday that we can't wait to come for us Orthodox. It is celebrated very nicely, with all the good things."

"It symbolizes hope for good. Very good atmosphere, even though there are no people, there are less than other times. I wish you all health and a happy Easter."

Enthusiastic and excited about the fantastic atmosphere in Korça, two Greek visitors who were surprised by this night also expressed their feelings.

Messages from Greek visitors

"We are from Greece, from Thessaloniki. We came to visit Korça, we have company here and we came for Easter. It's beautiful with fireworks, many people were here. Happy Easter!"

"I really liked the atmosphere, I saw many citizens from Greece. Greeks and Albanians came together and I really liked this warm atmosphere. We also celebrate the same, we wait for the clock to go to midnight. My wish is that I hope all the people to be together."

Orthodox Easter is one of the religious holidays that brings together not only the citizens of Korça but also many visitors who choose the city of Korça to celebrate. The Easter Mass will be celebrated on Sunday morning, where the clergy will be present, headed by Monsignor Joan Pelushin, who also wished at the midnight service for a happy and prosperous Easter./ CNA
