Pano Soko reveals for CNA/ What are the consequences of the increase in
Economy expert, Pano Soko

The economy expert, Pano Soko, in a statement for CNA, spoke about the increase in the salaries of MPs and ministers during yesterday's plenary session.

Soko says that the increase in the salaries of deputies will have a big impact on the State Budget, specifically 5 million dollars.

But for the expert, the biggest problem lies in social discrimination, as he claims that in this way social inequality will increase.

"The impact on the State Budget will be quite large, 5 million dollars. The problem is social discrimination, social inequality. Dissociation between the representatives of the people and the people. In democratic countries there is a fair correlation. In Germany, this ratio is 1 to 2. MPs receive 10,000 euros, while the average salary is 5,000 euros.

In Albania, we had this report, where the deputy received about 120,000 lek net, while the citizen received 60,000 lek. Breaking this ratio has broken the barriers of discrimination. It borders on discrimination. A deputy will be paid 4 times more than a citizen", he says.

Soko insists that legislators must suffer the consequences of the policies they draft, while stating that this decision is a conflict of interest.

"The deputy must be a participant in the consequences that the policies he drafts produce for the citizens. When the economy does not perform well, even the MP must be a participant. We cannot have such a differentiation where you say the citizen suffers the crisis that we produced and we avoided ourselves from this crisis. The citizens who have not produced anything are not the citizens who make decisions on tenders, they are the leaders and the citizens are the followers. MPs avoid responsibility through such laws.

If the deputies wanted to increase the salary of the deputy, they could not do it for themselves. It is a conflict of interest. They could raise it for the next legislature. They told us, you suffer the economy because we raise the salaries ourselves", emphasized the economic expert.

Meanwhile, we remember that with the joining of the votes of the majority and the opposition, in this Thursday's plenary session, the salaries of the deputies were doubled and those of the ministers were increased by 80%./ CNA.al
