Operation "Pandora" for "Call Center" Fraud/ SPAK and German

SPAK and the German leader of Operation Pandora held a press conference, where they provided details of the fraud that occurred with call centers.

SPAK prosecutor Eneid Nakuçi said that a search was conducted at the premises of a call center, where numerous material evidence was found. Nakuçi said that those responsible for these frauds will be brought to justice and called on call center employees not to become part of criminal activities.

" A search of a call center premises where numerous material evidence was found. We were dealing with parallel investigations in Albania and Germany."

The perpetrators of these frauds will be held accountable for their illegal actions.

"Citizens working in these call centers should not become part of illegal activities ," the prosecutor said.

Present at the conference, the German head of the operation, Hofman, announced that Operation Pandora had started in December 2023. Hofman said that more than 20 fraudulent calls had been intercepted in one day. He further said that 12 international addresses had been hit as part of this operation and revealed that the fraudulent calls were made from 5 countries, including Albania and Kosovo.

The German leader said that the crackdown on these criminal activities will continue and appreciated the cooperation with SPAK on this operation.

"The operation began in December 2023. We began intercepting over 20 fraudulent calls per day. They were caught in real time in order to avoid losses of 10 million euros.

In parallel, we conducted investigations in the field of computer crime to locate the call centers and the authors of these calls. The most important thing was to hit this criminal organization. This operation has so far led to the hitting of 12 international centers. People have been arrested, including the infrastructure organizer in Germany. Very close cooperation with SPAK and the State Police. This partnership is extremely significant for the success we achieved.

Today, it was possible to arrest 6 people and we ourselves had the opportunity to support the operation on the ground. This success shows the power of international cooperation and sends a message to criminal groups. Borders will not stop us from protecting people from criminal acts.

EU funds are crucial to make this operation possible. We are more than determined to continue the fight against criminal networks. We will continue to cooperate with our partners to protect citizens from these fraudulent crimes.

"We identified 8 fraud schemes, the form of money transfer is different. A very complex criminal structure. Call centers from 5 countries, but the victims were not only in Germany ," said Hofman./ CNA
