Possessed a fake passport/ Georgian man arrested in Rinas

A 41-year-old Georgian man has been arrested in Rinas after attempting to cross the border with false documents.

GZ, 41, presented a Greek passport, but during the second line check, a Greek passport with the details of a Greek citizen and a boarding pass with the same details were found.

The Greek passport that the 41-year-old possessed, upon examination, turned out to be fake.

Police notification

Another case of attempted illegal border crossing with a forged document is being investigated.

1 Georgian citizen is arrested. A fake passport is seized.

The Rinas Border Police Services, based on information received through cooperation and data exchange with British partners, that a Georgian citizen was suspected of using a forged passport to travel to the United Kingdom, immediately organized the work. As a result, the identification and arrest in flagrante delicto of citizen GZ, 41 years old, born and residing in Georgia, was made.

This citizen initially presented at the Police counter, in order to exit the Republic of Albania in a regular manner, a Georgian passport and a boarding pass for a flight to Budapest.

Police services have kept him under surveillance and have found him at the next exit gate, ready to board the "Tirana-Manchester" route.

Following the actions, citizen GZ was escorted to the second line, where during the physical and baggage search, a Greek passport with the data of a Greek citizen and a boarding pass with the same data were found. From preliminary laboratory examinations, it is suspected that the passport is forged.

At the conclusion of the actions, the Criminal Investigation specialists of the Rinas Police Commissariat arrested citizen GZ, 41 years old, in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offense of "Forgery of passports, identity cards and visas" and passed the procedural materials to the Prosecutor's Office.

This case highlights the importance and effectiveness of continued cooperation with British law enforcement authorities in the fight against illegal migration and document fraud./ CNA
