Recognition of voluntary contribution/ Young people of Albania and Kosovo lobby through the British Council

Young people who have engaged in volunteer work are demanding that authorities in Albania and Kosovo recognize their contributions to activism, art, and innovation, as well as their experience and seniority.

In collaboration with the British Council in Albania, Albanian authorities have passed the draft law on volunteering through parliamentary committees.

Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Lira Pipa, stated that in January there will be a clear plan for the application of the law. Meanwhile, in Kosovo, according to the representative of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Zjarrta Osmani, the recognition of voluntary work will be enabled through adjustments to a legal provision.

During the roundtable organized by the British Council, as part of the national culture week, in Tropoja, students and young people who have been part of the Alternative Pathways program, funded by the United Kingdom government, demanded that the Albanian government establish a budget for young people in schools and universities.

The draft law on volunteering in Albania was included in discussions in parliamentary committees and the Parliament is expected to set the date when this document will be passed for approval in a plenary session./CNA
