DP MP reveals the reasons: Here's why Rama buried the territorial reform

DP MP Gjin Gjoni stated on the "Now" show with Erla Mëhilli that Prime Minister Edi Rama took off his mask regarding the territorial reform and broke the consensus between the parties for his private and public interests.

According to Gjoni, Rama buried the territorial reform for two reasons: first, the reduction in the number of municipalities was opposed by citizens, and second, it is for political purposes, as the DP, in the 60-page report it presented to parliament, calls for 90 to 110 municipalities.

"Rama today took off his mask regarding the territorial reform. For one reason, the first is that he broke a consensus that had been established between the parties until the 15th for his private and political interests, because this territorial reform, in addition to the need that required discussion and reflection, results in a debate throughout the territory of the Republic of Albania. One of the two conditions that was set for Albania is the implementation of territorial reform and the other is electoral reform. Rama buried it for two reasons. The first is that there was a reaction even from the citizens who had voted for the Socialist Party to reduce the number of these municipalities and at the moment that the public consultation was taking shape against Rama, Rama managed to block it definitively, because today you have a program that you drafted in a commission and you did not take it to the end. The second is the political goal, because the Democratic Party in the 60-page report that it presented to the parliament is asking for 90 to 110 municipalities. It is an abnormal parliament and for me the parliament is in its final stages, despite the fact that I "I am a new MP. It is not normal in the way, form and treatment that is being done today to sensitive issues, issues of politics and citizens," said the DP MP./ CNA
