Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has reacted to Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements following the riots and protests of recent days in Tirana.

In a press conference, the Iranian spokesman said that these accusations directed at Iran are made by a government to avoid responsibility towards its people.

"Maybe one day they will say that the flamingos are Iranian security agents. These allegations against Iran are a recurring pattern according to which every government that in some way wants to get closer to the Zionist regime makes an accusation against Iran to please them. But the Albanian people are certainly very understanding and know that such predictions are simply to avoid responsibility towards the people of this country regarding actions that are naturally considered by the Albanian people as a sale of the sovereignty and dignity of this country ," Baghaei said.

Iran's statements come after Prime Minister Edi Rama, in a meeting with the residents of Zvërnec, stated that the developments and protests of recent days are something of a fabrication.

Rama said that this has taken on global proportions, while stating that behind all this are enemies of Albania, one of whom, according to him, is Iran.

He said that Iran has used this moment to strike a society that is working towards membership in the European Union. /CNA
