The court hearing in the case of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and other defendants in the "Partizani" case has begun at the GJKKO.
Former Sports Director Violeta Shqevi has been summoned to the hearing to give her testimony.
Shqevi admitted that she was employed as a lawyer at the Ministry of Tourism in 2007 and then served as the head of the sports strategy for the years 2008-2020.
Shqevi has testified that in 2005 a 2-year objective was approved for the modernization of sports clubs that was under the responsibility of the Ministry of Sports.
Asked where the building was located, Shqevi indicated that it was located below the December 21 area, while asked if the properties were registered, he replied:
"No, they were not registered, the sports directorate did not have clear information about the existence of any owner, or that they were occupied. I have asked my superiors," she stated, among other things.
Disclosure of testimony given in Court.
Shqevi: I was employed as a lawyer in 2007 and then served as the head of the sports strategy for the years 2008-2020.
The goal of the strategy was for elite sports, improving and increasing infrastructure in the country.
In 2005, a 2-year objective was approved for the modernization of sports clubs. The club was under the responsibility of the Ministry of Sports, I know it as a sports club at that time, we managed the entire sports club, many sports, except football. The club had assets, it had buildings, gymnastics, there was also another building that had wrestling, weightlifting.
SPAK: Where were these buildings?
Shqevi: There were two in the center of the club, how can we say below December 21, as an area.
SPAK: How many gyms were there?
Shqevi: There was a gymnastics gym, as well as a basketball and volleyball gym. In my memory, there were other gyms.
SPAK: Have they been registered?
Shqevi: No, they were not registered, the sports directorate did not have clear information about the existence of any owner, or that they were occupied. I asked my superiors...
SPAK: In June 2008, the Ministry of Tourism appeared as an initiator of the sports law. In addition to concessions, privatization also appeared. Are you aware of this?
Shqevi: At that time, in addition to the clubs, the privatization of facilities would also take place, at that time a technical group would make a strategy for improving sports. We made efforts to increase the infrastructure, since we had much smaller infrastructure for the sports part. We requested that if they were to be privatized, the state should replace them with other spaces. We were in favor of increasing the sports infrastructure. We requested the implementation of Romanian law, if privatization were to occur./ CNA
