Hypocrisy with the media in Greece/ The project in Zvërnec is opposed, but

A contradictory dynamic is unfolding between Albania and Greece, where the investment of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, in the coastal areas of Albania has served as an indicator to test the double standards of neighboring politics and media.

According to recent reports in the Greek media, "Affinity Partners", Kushner is also considering withdrawing from the island of Sazan and other projects in Albania after constant pressure. The Greek media have followed a genuine strategy of blocking investments in our country.

Referring to the article by "Greek City Times", it is noticeable how this portal gives voice to local objections and environmental concerns to justify the failure of the Albanian project. The rhetoric has been heated by involving protests in Zvërnec over allegations of violence against a citizen of the Greek minority, turning an investment issue into a diplomatic incident.

However, behind the scenes reveals other facts. The same media that writes about the environmental impacts in Albania, enthusiastically echoes the fact that: "In a significant development for luxury real estate in the Balkans, sources close to the 'Journal' report that Jared Kushner's investment firm is preparing to withdraw from its ambitious project on the island of Sazani in Albania. The company is now looking at alternatives in the region. Greece is said to have offered special investment conditions to attract such high-profile developments to iconic destinations like Mykonos."

After such articles in the Greek media, the question naturally arises: does the nature of Kushner's investment change when he crosses the border?

If the project of Sazan and the Albanian coastal areas is considered environmentally destructive from the Greek perspective, why does the same development model implemented in Mykonos turn into a strategic opportunity for official Athens?

In this double game, the environment seems to be just a political instrument. When the investment aims at the development of Albania, it is labeled as an ecological threat and a source of ethnic conflicts, while when it aims at the benefits of the Greek market, it is transformed into an investment welcomed by the Greek government. /CNA
